Our Kitchen Cabinet Painting Process
Professional cabinet painting is a detailed, multi-step process that ensures a smooth, durable finish. Here’s how we do it:
Protection & Prep Work
When painting cabinets all nearby surfaces, floors, countertops, and appliances are carefully masked and protected. We remove cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware for a cleaner, more controlled application.
Cleaning & Degreasing
Cabinets are thoroughly cleaned and degreased to remove built-up oils and residues, which ensures proper paint adhesion.
Sanding & Surface Prep
Surfaces are sanded to create a smooth base. Any dents, scratches, or imperfections are filled and sanded flush. We also de-gloss existing finishes as needed.
Priming
A high-quality bonding primer is applied to seal the surface and create an ideal foundation for the topcoat—this is key to long-lasting durability.
Sanding Again
We sand again after we prime to smooth out any raised grain and ensure an extra slick scrubable finish.
Painting or Spraying
We apply at least 2 coats of premium cabinet-grade paint or lacquer, typically using spray equipment for a factory-smooth finish. Brush and roller applications are also available if you would prefer a less invasive professional cabinet painting experience.
Drying & Curing
Cabinets doors and drawer fronts need a few days to allow proper curing and ensure a hard, durable finish that resists chipping and wear. We wait a few days before reinstalling doors and drawer fronts, but never fear we start clean up during this drying process.
Reassembly & Final Touches
Once the finish is fully cured, we reinstall the doors, drawers, and hardware. Final touch-ups are completed, and the area is left clean and ready to enjoy.
